OS 6" map (1957)
The ruins of an old mansion or castle and offices; little now remains, most of the stone having been removed.
Name Book 1850
There are the remains of an old castle on Corsock estate. It is now very dilapidated, little remaining but an old tower. It was the residence of the covenanter, Robert Nelson of Corsock.
NSA 1845 (W Crosbie)
The site of Corsock Tower is mentioned (G Macdonald 1911), while Harper calls it the "old Castle of Corsock", adding that a plaque from it, bearing the Nelson arms and initials JN and MG, is built into the walls of the modern house.
M Harper 1896
The remains consist of three small, adjoined rectangular buildings and a large rectangular pile of rubble up to 1.3m high, which may represent the remains of a tower. Thirty metres to the W is another rectangular foundation, cut by a later track. The plaque on Corsock House (NX 758 755) also bears a date, which is indecipherable.
Surveyed at 1/2500.
