Archaeology Notes

NX55SW 13 c. 517 538

See also NX55SW 7.

A Roman jug handle of bronze, partly plated with silver, with a Medusa-Head at base, was found in the vicinity of the site of alleged battle at NX 517 538 (see NX55SW 7) and was donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1889 by Sir H E Maxwell (Accession no. FR 224). Dr Robertson suggests a possible 1st century AD date for it.
