OS 6" map (1958)
Cairnannock (Name Book 1849) or Cairnminnock (J Smith 1895) was a circular cairn of loose stones and earth in 1849, but a sheep stall appears to have been constructed on and from the remains which now consist of a circular earth and stone wall, 13m in diameter and 0.2m high, with an entrance 1.5m wide in the SW. The interior is uneven. Visited by OS (JFC) 12 December 1955
The remains of this turf-covered cairn surmounted by a sheep stall are as described by the previous authorities.
Surveyed at 1:10 000.

Cairnannock NX 371 966 NX39NE 1
Nothing is visible of the cairn that was situated on a low rise 100m E of the old farmstead of Cairnannock (NX39NE 4); its site is marked by a circular turf-banked sheepfold, which survives in a clearing in Balloch Plantation.
