Archaeology Notes

NX17SE 65 1892 7368

What are probably the remains of a small cairn are situated immediately SE of the railway track 230m N of Miltonise farmhouse. It is well turfed over and measures 6.4m in diameter over a bank of cairn material 1.5m thick and 0.4m high. Within the bank of cairn material the interior of the cairn rises gently towards the centre. Presumably the present form of the cairn is the result of stone-robbing, but the bank of cairn material is regularly formed and there is little evidence to show that the centre has been disturbed.

RCAHMS 1987, visited (SH) 23 October 1985.
