There is a granite standing stone situated at the edge of a grass field, about 300 yds E by S of South Cairnweil. It is 6'9" high, and somewhat triangular in section, measuring 3'3" by 2'4" by 8" at base.

RCAHMS 1912, visited 1911

This stone has been removed. No further information.

Visited by OS (JP) 10 September 1970

This stone was re-erected by the farmer in its original position in 1973 (W H Fergusson, South Cairnweil by Stranraer).

Information from SDD 19 October 1981

This standing stone is situated 260m ESE of South Cairnweil farmhouse; it is roughly triangular in section, measuring a maximum of 1.1m by 0.7m at the base and 2.2m in height. The stone was removed prior to 1970, but was re-erected in 1973.
