Archaeology Notes

NT86SE 33 c. 880 602.

The site of Ferney Castle cannot now be pointed out with certainty, but it is generally supposed to have been on the edge of the morass which occupied the hollow through which the Mire Burn flows. Occasionally great stones are unearthed. These undoubtedly formed the causeway over the moss from Ferney Castle towards England.

A Thomson 1908.
