Archaeology Notes

NT76NE 6 7504 6816.

"Not many years ago" (written in 1887/9) urns similar to those found at Hoprig (Berwick 4 NW 4) were found on the farm of Ecklaw, where adjoining Hoprig Shiels.

"Unfortunately they fell into the hands of ignorant people, who neglected them and they fell to pieces".

From enquiries at Ecclaw farm this find-spot is likely to lie within an area centred on NT 7504 6816.
