Archaeology Notes

NT75NE 29 c. 788 599.

A Pictish silver chain from Hoardweel (NT 788 599) is in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS), on loan from the Douglas and Angus Estates. It is composed of forty-one rings, and a penannular ring, and measures 17 5/8ins long; it was found in June 1880 when sowing turnips.
