Archaeology Notes

NT75NE 20 7742 5711.

(Area: NT 774 571) On a small promontory on the S bank of the Whiteadder, there has been an attempt at making a single rampart and ditch. The area is wooded but the site could be a promontory fort. Information in letter from Mr E E McKinnon, 11 Currie St, Duns, Berwickshire, to OS 12 March 1969.

McKinnon is undoubtedly referring to a small wooded promontory at NT 7742 5717 measuring 13.0m x 11.0m, across the neck of which is a slight trench, the remains of an old footpath. Not an antiquity.

Visited by OS (RD) 12 August 1970.
