Archaeology Notes

NT71NE 56 c. 75 16.

'There is a Druidical circle, sixteen yards in diameter and occupying an elevated position, which remains pretty entire. At no great distance, there are the vestiges of another of larger dimensions, but in a less perfect state of preservation'. The stones of which the circles are composed are of local rock.

(The above entry appears under the heading of 'Antiquities in the parish of Oxnam': cf NT71NE 34 & 36, though the latter is just over the parish boundary, and falls in Hownam parish.)
