Archaeology Notes

NT53SE 17 55 34.

A very broad-headed metal javelin or spear was found near Friarshaugh, (Name NT 552 349) opposite to Melrose. The weapon is about a palm's breadth at the bottom, tapering to the length of about nine inches or perhaps more for it is considerably decayed towards the point.

It was presented by Mr Tod, the owner of Friarshaugh, to W Scott.
