Archaeology Notes

NT53NE 44 c. 57 38.

A greenstone axe, 11 ins by 3 1/2 ins, with a rough and pecked surface, from Earlston (NT 57 38) was purchased for the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1884 (Accession no: AF 246).

Earlston is listed among sites where microliths have been found. A scraper and a weapon head are illustrated, and a grid reference of NT 577 383 (300 ft OD), is quoted.
