(NT 3959 6358) Two rectangular enclosures, sharing a common side, appear as crop marks at the W corner of the smaller Roman temporary camp at Pathhead.
Univ Edinburgh Extra-mural Dept 1979
A single-ditched trapezoidal enclosure, measuring some 200 ft along the main axes, intersects the N end of the smaller camp at Pathhead. This site is of special importance in that excavation might throw light on the relationship between the Roman occupation and this example of a type of rectilinear ditched enclosure which occurs in the Lothians and in north England where it is known to have been occupied by native timber huts during the Roman period.

This area is under pasture and none of the markings can be identified on the ground.

Cropmarks 250m SSW of Pathhead reveal two adjoining enclosures intersecting the N end of the smallest of the Roman temporary camps NT36SE 3 & 17. Both are roughly square, the larger measuring about 30m across the interior.
