(NT 3316 6576) King David's Gate (NR) (site of)
OS 6" map (1968)
This gate, which stood in the Monkland Wall, was named after its founder, King David I. It has disappeared long ago; only a small piece of one of the piers remains, built into the house which now occupies the site.
Name Book 1853
No trace. The house referred to as containing part of one of the piers was probably demolished when the nearby stables were built in 1875.
