OS 25" map, (1943)

'A stone pier running into the Harbour, said to have been built by Oliver Cromwell, by agreement with the Town Authorities, for the surrender of the Town. The Pier was built on a rock known by the name of the Herring Craig and still bears the same name.' It is situated in the north side of the harbour.

Name Book 1854.

No information regarding this site was encountered during fieldwork.
