Archaeology Notes

NT27SW 40 c. 246 714.

A Late Bronze Age decorated socketed axe from Falcon Avenue (NT 246 714) is in the NMAS (Acc No: DE 121). It was found when digging a house foundation, and donated in 1951 (Information from NMAS accessions index).

(Socketed axe: Roseberry Topping variant of Sompting type). Single find. Socketed axe, smooth, dark green, untrimmed. Length 81mm, mouth 22 x 23mm, cutting edge 45mm, weight 145 gms. NMAS DE 121.
