Name: NT 2675 7390. Site of Lothian Hut (NAT)

OS 1:1056 map, 1854.

This local usage of the word 'Hut' indicates the secondary house of a family who normally had a larger and more imposing residence.

M Tait 1959.

Lothian Hut stood on the site, now occupied by a brewery, a little E of Queensberry House. It was a small mansion, erected by William, the third Marquis of Lothian, about 1750 and demolished in 1825.
