Archaeology Notes

NT27NE 59 26059 75895

(Location cited as NT 264 760). Bonnington Tannery, Newhaven Road. Late 19th century. An extensive complex, the oldest part of which is probably a 3-storey, 14-bay, snecked-rubble block, dated 1879, with drying sheds at the rear. The other important buildings are 4-storey, 6-bay, and 4-storey, 4-bay structures, both rubble-fronted, with a red-nandwhite-brick water-tower. There are other, smaller buildings at the rear. Now disused.

J R Hume 1976.
