Edinburgh, Hyvot's Lane, Moredun House.

Now demolished.

The lands of Goodtrees are mentioned in the time of David I. The house originally belonged to the Herries family, passing by marriage to Sir James Stewart of Kirkfield and Coltness in the 17th century. The present house was built in the late 17th century by his son. It was re-named Moredun (NT 2969) by Baron Moncrieff, proprietor in 1760-85.

T Whyte 1792; J C Carrick 1904.
