Armstrong refers to "the remains of a small camp, called the Cairn" in this position. No trace remains of this structure, and in the absence of further details its classification is uncertain. It is unlikely to have been a fort, however, since the site has no defensive strength. (Information from A McLaren notebook 1, 17)
