NT23NW 64 21950 37933

(Location cited as NT 221 379). Kirkton Manor Smithy, built c. 1800 and subsequently extended. A pictiuresque single-storey rubble building with a large square-section chimney stack. Now disused.

Site Management (18 May 2009)

Detatched former smithy (behind Post Office) contains a well preserved forge. Large estate smithy built for shoeing horses and making/ repairing the estate's ironmongery. Substantial rubble constructed building with two massive chimneys for the smiths' hearths. (SCRAN)
