( HU 2443 8307 ) Chapel (L.B.) (in ruins)

OS 6"map, Shetland, 2nd ed., (1900)

The remains of a pre-Reformation chapel

Name Book 1878

This building has completely tumbled. Wall footings, seen through the debris, give dimensions approximately 9.0m E-W by 3.6m N-S. There is nothing to differentiate these remains from those of abandoned crofts in the vicinity. The tradition of a chapel is still known locally, but not the dedication.

Published Survey (6") correct.
