Archaeology Notes

NT17NE 25 16826 78464

An obelisk-shaped sundial stood in a garden in front of the cottages at Long Green (NT 177 775) near Barnbougle Castle (NT17NE 6) to which place it was removed a few years before 1890 when the castle was rebuilt.

It stands about 7'2" high, with a shaft 10" square, and bears the Cunnyngham arms on one of the spaces on the side of the shaft.
