NT15SE 15 c. 15 51

A LBA socketed axe from West Linton is in National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS Accession no DE 125). It was included in a collection owned by the late Mr P Dunlop, Dolphinton, purchased in 1954 (NT15SE 3).

This axe is listed in the Continuation Catalogue of the NMAS as being from Sutherland.

(Socketed axe of Highfield type). Single find. Socketed axe, smooth, lightly pitted, green, mouth broken, trimmed, blade hammered, scratch marks on blade, short haft ribs inside; length 92mm, mouth 26x34mm, cutting edge 56mm, weight 310gms. National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland, Edinburgh (DE 125).
