Information contained in letter and field notes from K Reid 25 September 1978.
At NC 417 549, in a sheltered valley about 200ft OD, are the footings of eight shielings, with a head dyke around the S and E sides of the group. The shielings are of turf and stone construction, generally oval or rectangular with rounded ends on average 3.5m by 2.5m. The 'rectangular structure. . . set on a knoll' noted by Reid is two closely-adjoining shielings; the structure built against the head dyke cannot be located. Surveyed at 1:10,000.
