OS 6" map (1967)

A large 2-chambered, oblong dovecot of late 17th century date (SDD List 1964). It measures 34'3" x 18'2", and has crow-stepped gables, a lean-to slated roof, and a single string-course. The walls are of random rubble. Each chamber has an entrance; there are 993 and 1013 nest-holes. It is inscribed JL over the entrance, and was probably built for James 4th Earl of Callander who became 5th Earl of Linlithgow in 1695.
