Archaeology Notes

NT02SE 28 0970 2491

NT 097 249. Unenclosed Platform Settlement: A single platform 50 ft wide, probably the survivor of a group, is situated on the SE face of a rocky knoll 160 yds WNW of Oliver.

RCAHMS 1967, visited 1962.

An extensive perambulation of the hill WNW of Oliver failed to locate this site.

Visited by OS (RD), 4 August 1972

NT 0970 2491. This level terrace, situated on a steep slope, measures approximately 12.0 m long by 5.0 m wide. It is poorly defined and cannot be positively identified as an occupation site; it may, however, be a natural feature, the result of subsidence which is evident else- where on the disturbed, tree-covered hill slope.

There is no trace of other similar features in its vicinity.

Visited by OS (MJF), 30 January 1979.
