(NS 9895 6816) Spring-grove (NAT) Formerly Manse (NR)

OS 6" map (1914)

Spring-grove, an old house, was formerly the parish manse, and is still called by some the "Old Manse".

Name Book 1856

The present house of Spring-grove was built in 1860 and modernised in 1920. It stands on the site of the manse which was attached to the original Bathgate Church (NS96NE 9) (Mrs B Nelson, Spring-grove, Bathgate). A date stone in the SW face of the modern house confirms the date of its erection. No information was obtained re dates of construction or demolition of the manse, though it was probably demolished immediately prior to the rebuilding in 1860.
