A castle mound. Very big. Surrounding ditch broken where crossed by path on SW.

OS 6" map annotated by O G S Crawford 9 June 1937.

A steep-sided motte between 4.0m and 8.0m high (its level top measuring c.17.0m by 21.0m), surrounded by a ditch c.2.0m wide, with traces of a bank, 0.5m high, on the counterscarp on the N side.

The top and sides are covered by vegetation and fallen trees, and a modern obelisk and ornamental garden, now overgrown, further obscure the summit. No building foundations can be seen.
