The parish minister of Kilsyth in 1796 states (1) that one of several circular stone fortifications in the neighbourhood was situated at ‘Auchinvillie’, but no trace of such a work has been found.

Nothing remains of a circular fortification noted in the Statistical Account at 'Auchinvillie'; it was one of 'several' defended by walls or ramparts of dry-stone masonry and measuring '40 or 50 yards' (36m - 45ml in diameter.
