Activities

Field Visit

This heavily disturbed chambered cairn, which is situated on a slight rise in rough peaty moorland about 50m NE of the minor road leading N from the A971 to Newton, measures 14.5m in diameter and 0.8m high. There are traces of a kerb, especially on the N, while a number of boulders suggest the presence of an internal chamber.

Some of the cairn material has been robbed to construct a roughly oval enclosure immediately E of the cairn. This measures 30m from NW to SE by 25m transversely within collapsed rubble walls spread up to 2m thick.

Visited by RCAHMS (DCC) 12 June 2010.
