Archaeology Notes

NS56SE 1 591 645.

A coin hoard, deposited in the 14th century, was found on an unspecified date, when digging the foundations of a house in Glasgow, on the east side of the South Bridge. There were "a great many" coins of Edward I and II, and at least one foreign coin. The disposition of the coins is unknown. (There is no "South Bridge" in Glasgow - the bridge referred to is probably the main one to the south, ie. Stockwell Bridge, at NS 591 645.)

J Thompson 1956; J Lindsay 1845.
