Archaeology Notes

Red Brae, Merkins Muir. The diameter of the millstone is just under 1.5m. As this is made of relatively soft material, (upper old red sandstone) it may have been intended for grinding animal feed only.

Information contained in letter from John Mitchell, Drymen District Local History Society, to Prof. D G Tucker, University of Birmingham, 15 March 1989.
