Temple (NAT)

OS 6" map (1969)

This octagonal 'Temple', now ruinous, stands on top of Kenmuir Hill. It was built in 1760 by William McDowall of Castle Sempill, said to be for a religious shrine. Later, is was used as a meeting place for the hunt, the deer path being close by.
