'To the S of Giffen Castle, when removing a flat stone which has interrupted ploughing operations' Mr Robert King, the farmer, 'found it to be part of a stone coffin, in which there were human remains'.

Miss M King, aged 82, of Mains, Barrmill, remembers her father ploughing up a 'stone coffin' in a field known as Barnfield (centred NS 3769 5065) immediately S of the road. However, she cannot remember of the exact spot or any details.
