Archaeology Notes

NS33SW 8 3237 3077.

A worn antoninianus of Victorinus, from a South Gaulish mint was found circa December 1969 by R Malcolm, at a depth of about six inches, in the garden of Dallas House, Dallas Road, Troon (NS 324 307). The finder is the grandfather of the present occupant, G M Wyllie.

A S Robertson 1974

NS 3237 3077. The finder, Mr R Malcolm, is deceased. Mr Wylie (13 Coates Gardens, Edinburgh) confirmed the find spot of the coin in the rear garden, where there has been no known import of soil or building material. The coin is still believed to be held at Dallas House, but Mr Wylie's parents, the owners, could not locate it at the time of investigation.
