(NB 249 483) 'Rudh' an Dunain ... A hold, prominent, rocky point of land, on which was formerly a Castle or Fortress, but the site of which was washed away by the sea.'

Name Book 1852.

Some say a small, stone stronghold existed here, but beyond a small mound no sign of fort can be seen."
