This 70' diameter cairn is similar in construction to NR96NW 2 and NR96NW 4. It is much disturbed, in the centre, having been robbed by a yachting party c.1940. The kerb stones can be clearly seen.

The remains of a cairn measuring c.17m in diameter and up to 1.2m high. The centre has been totally robbed and irregular scoops around the periphery indicate a high quartz content. No definite kerb was found. Resurveyed at 1:10,560.

Field Visit (May 1985)

This cairn, situated in rough grazing NE of Port Leathan and 370m SW of the standing stone (NR96NW 8), measures about 17m in diameter and, although severely disturbed, is still up to 1.5 high; many quartz pebbles can be seen among the cairn material (Scott 1952).
