Detail of custom card dated 1884:
'James Christie in thanking his numerous customers for their very liberal support since he began manufacturing eleven years ago, takes this opportunity of stating that his Large New Mill which has been fitted up with the best and most approved Machinery being now completed, he is in a position to undertake every kind of work.
The facilities afforded by larger premises and improved machinery enable him to turn out work to great advantage, and as he is prepared to give his customers every benefit, they may rely upon having their orders executed with expedition at moderate charges, good returns, and a genuine article.
J.C. receives wool to be manufactured to order at lowest price, or taken in exchange for manufactured goods. He also takes in all kinds of wool for carding; yarn for weaving; cloth for milling and dressing; sheep skins, etc. for curing and dying.
From this long and practical experience and knowledge of the trade, combined with personal supervision, and devoting himself to the interest of his business and customers, J.C. hopes to receive a continuation and extension of that patronage which has hitherto been so liberally bestowed upon him' |
