(NR 3838 4657) Standing Stone (NR)

OS 6" map, Argyllshire, 2nd ed., (1900)

This tall, dressed standing stone, is 11ft 6ins high.

Other dimensions are 2ft 4ins by 1ft. It is believed to be of phyllite. F Celoria 1959.

A standing stone situated in level pastureland is 3m high, 0.8m broad and 0.3m thick. Four metres to the west is what may be a fallen stone but there is insufficient exposed for certainty.

Surveyed at 1:10000.

Visited by OS (TRG) 3 June 1978.

Situated in level pasture 120m SSE of Kilbride there is a standing stone measuring 2.75m in height and 0.90m by

0.33m at the base, with the longer axis aligned ENE and WSW.

The sides taper gradually to a rounded top, and the faces appear to have been dressed to some extent in prehistoric

times.
