This milestone is one of eight (see also NN86NE 115, NN86NW 53-4, 56-9) that accompany a nine-mile long carriage drive that starts and ends at Blair Castle (NN86NE 5) and takes in a large area of wooded hilly ground to the N and W. The 2nd edition of the OS 25-inch map (Perth and Clackmannanshire 1900, Sheet XXI.10) depicts the milestone on the S side of the carriageway eight miles from the castle following a clockwise route, but only one mile from it going the other way.
