Field Walking (February 2018)

NN 54938 03914 A walkover survey was undertaken,

February 2018, over a corridor of land in advance of the

construction of a road from an existing track to the dam at

Loch Drunkie. Six features were recorded. The walls and the

track are shown on the 1st Edition OS map of 1866 and are

likely to be 19th-century in date.

NN 54934 03948 (S1) Clearance cairn, a low pile of stone,

set against natural outcrop. Small stones, pile 4 x 4m.

NN 54946 04005 (S2) A wall, 1.35m high by 0.60m wide.

NN 54865 04172 (S3) A wall, 1.20m high by 0.75m wide.

NN 54719 04160 (S4) A ruinous dry stone revetment wall,

up to 1m high, associated with the dam.

NN 54719 04156 (S5) A wall lining the outflow from the

dam, canalised burn.

NN 54760 04181 (S6) The line of an old track.
