Activities

Field Visit (April 1982)

Fountain Hillock, Cauldcots NO 634 740 NO67SW

The Fountain Hillock is a prominent flat-topped mound situated on a gentle NE-facing slope 250m W of Cauldcots farmhouse; it measures about 27.5m in diameter and stands to a height of 3m above the arable field on the SW. The top, which is 9m in diameter, appears to have been artificially levelled, and without excavation it is impossible to be certain that the upper part of the mound is entirely natural in origin.

RCAHMS 1982, visited April 1982

(Name book, Kincardine, No. 8, p. 43)
