(HP 5718 0023) Cairn (NR).

OS 6" Map, Shetland, 2nd ed., (1900).

The delapidated remains of a cairn which has probably had a diameter of some 30'. There are signs of careful building round the margin, but only foundations of a wall-face can now be traced.

RCAHMS 1946

A heel-shaped chambered cairn, 1.2m high, with the interior and facade considerably masked by tumble, but with the kerb particularly well defined. It measures about 15.0m across its concave SSE facade, which faces down the slope, and c10.5m transversely. Within are faint indications of what may have been an inner circular kerb giving a two-tiered effect. Three large stones 0.8m apart are apparently part of a passage which leads to a chamber 1.0m square defined by three slabs on edge. This two-tiered effect with entrance in the 'upper storey' is similar to the Wideford Hill chambered cairn (HY41SW 1) in Orkney.
