Present location: in the nave of Govan Old Parish Church.
Evidence for discovery: found in the churchyard in the nineteenth century having been re-used as a gravestone in the seventeenth century.
Present condition: extremely worn and the left-hand corner at the head end is damaged.
Description
This rectangular slab tapers slightly towards the foot. It has a wide plain border and the cross may have been plain apart from an inner outline formed by an incised line, with side-arms extending out into the the border. Above the side-arms the cross is surrounded by five ring-knots, and flanking the shaft are traces of panels filled with interlace. Below the base of the shaft is a rectangular panel filled with very thick angular knotwork formed of cords with a median line. There is a secondary inscription at the centre of the defaced cross, which reads W . I above the date 1634.
Date: tenth or eleventh century.
