Description
This almost rectangular slab belongs to the angle-knob group. The knobs are carved in relief on wide plain borders at the head and foot of the slab, with slightly narrower plain borders along the sides. The cross is outlined by a roll moulding, with circular closed armpits. There appear to be traces of ornament on the shaft, but the cross-head has been defaced to take the inscription R . D over WILLm BOGLE. Panels of heavy interlace flank the cross, and there is a large square panel at the foot which contains a well-designed ring-knot with wide median-incised cords.
Date: tenth or eleventh century.
