Field Visit (April 1996 - May 1996)

The low footings of a building survive to the south of a crag. The structure, aligned roughly west to east, is rectangular in plan, 10.0m long and 5.0m broad, with walls 0.4m broad and up to 0.2m in height. Interpreted as the ruins of a house but: There are two opposed entrances towards the eastern end of the structure (so was it a barn?). Within the interior and to the east of the entrances is a possible step while to the west of the entrances there is a raised area . The structure is surrounded by a depression or gully off which, at the south-west comer, is a level platform, 5.0m by 4.0 m. To the east of the building are a series of boulder dykes which are fragmentary in nature and may incorporate further structures.
