The eastern gateway to the policies of Fordell Castle (NT18NW 8.00) comprise two square piers 2.8m apart and standing 2.9m high, both constructed of dressed blocks and surmounted by a large stone ball finial. There is an iron gate, comprising two unequal parts, and the adjoining walls (one to either side of the gate-piers) are composed of quarried blocks and have a flat cope. Both walls arc to the E, providing a funnelled entrance at least 40m wide. There is a four-step style immediately S of the gateway.
