The lands of Pitmilly, with the fortalice, manor place etc., are recorded in 1600.

NO 5797 1340. About 155.0m SSE of Pitmilly Hotel is a drystone wall, 30.0m long, 0.3m thick and 1.9m high, said to be the the site of an earlier building by Mrs Douglas, a member of the family who once owned the Pitmilly Estate (N C Ogilvie, owner, Pitmilly Hotel, Boarhills), but having the appearance of a garden wall. Some fragments of masonry protrude through the grass 13.0m to the SW.

The grounds of Pitmilly Hotel have been cleared and are now under cultivation. There are no traces of building remains.
