Stone, steatite and bone objects found in this area by members of the Sinclair family.

Orkney Smr Note

Old accession register at Tankerness House lists the

following objects as loans:-

L3-7 Stone sinker found on beach near Laminess; stone pounder,

fragments of steatite urns, and 2 whetstones, found on the lands

of Laminess; lent by Mr W Sinclair, Laminess.

L18 Bone whorl from Laminess lent by D Sinclair, Laminess.

L43-5 Stone sinker, steatite sinker, rude sandstone implement,

all from Laminess, lent by Mr D Sinclair, postman, Laminess.

(The Sinclairs lived around the southern Laminess, so it is

clear that the northern Lamaness is not meant). [R1]
